If you are pregnant there is a chance of experiencing heartburn. Let us first understand the nature of heartburn. This is a burning sensation that you will feel within your chest regions. This symptom is seen only during the phases of pregnancy only and is harmless in its effects. At the same time this is an uncomfortable feeling that may give you difficult times. The pain extends from the portion of the breastbone to the region of the throat. You will have to be careful of your health as well as the heartburn could also be a result of indigestion and acidic reaction. Usual reasons for this pain are attributed to the constant changes taking place in the hormonal balance of the body.

There is no way of medication or exercises that will remove the possibility of heartburn. But you can follow measures that will remove possibilities of the pain. For starters avoid oily and spicy food that may expose you to indigestion and gastric problems. Among drinks you should avoid caffeine and citric fruit juices, alcohol and vinegar among few others. Avoid heavy meals at one go. Instead make brief eating habits with small portions of food. Do not eat even at meal times if you don’t feel like; instead keep eating for several times in a day. Supplement the intake with water and other fluids. Eat slowly and properly chewing well to initiate good digestion.

It’s important to give sometime between your sleep and your last meal time. Eat at least a couple of hours before bedtime and use this time to take a walk within your room or home and sit straight in a comfortable position. This will help to digest your last food intake and even absorb the water and other fluids. When you lie down you will not feel any discomfort in your chest or throat regions. While sleeping make sure you have comfortable bedding with pillows that prop u up from the chest region. This will keep the stomach acids from traveling upwards. Clothing is an important thing to note. Do not wear anything that is too tight and uncomfortable especially around the chest and waist regions. Materials should be natural and no synthetic fibers should be worn that can cause excess heat within the body.
